WEEKEND MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR

We are seeking an experienced Weekend Maintenance Supervisor to lead our maintenance team and support the safe, reliable operation of our sawmill from Thursday through Sunday.

The Maintenance Supervisor will oversee maintenance activities during the weekend shift, coordinate preventative and corrective maintenance, troubleshoot equipment issues, and ensure that maintenance work is completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced maintenance professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced industrial environment and taking a leadership role.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate weekend maintenance personnel and activities.

• Prioritize and assign maintenance work based on production requirements and equipment condition.

• Respond to mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and other equipment breakdowns.

• Lead troubleshooting and repairs to minimize production downtime.

• Ensure preventative maintenance activities are completed according to schedule.

• Inspect equipment and identify potential failures or maintenance concerns.

• Coordinate with production supervisors to address equipment and operational issues.

• Ensure all maintenance work is performed in accordance with company safety procedures and applicable regulations.

• Promote safe work practices, including proper lockout/tagout procedures.

• Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, and shift reports.

• Communicate outstanding maintenance issues and priorities to the weekday maintenance team.

• Assist with parts, tools, and inventory requirements.

• Provide coaching, direction, and support to maintenance employees.

• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on equipment reliability, productivity, and safety.

• Respond to emergency maintenance situations as required.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in industrial maintenance, preferably in a sawmill, lumber, forestry, manufacturing, or similar heavy industrial environment.

• Previous supervisory or leadership experience is an asset.

• Strong mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

• Knowledge of industrial electrical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, conveyors, bearings, pumps, motors, and related equipment.

• Ability to read and understand mechanical drawings, manuals, and equipment documentation.

• Strong understanding of workplace health and safety requirements.

• Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in a production environment.

• Excellent communication and organizational skills.

• Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and support a maintenance team.

• Relevant trades certification or technical training is considered an asset.

Working Conditions

• Four-day schedule: Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

• Work is performed in a busy sawmill and industrial environment.

• Position requires standing, walking, climbing, bending, and working around operating industrial equipment.

• Must be comfortable working in varying temperatures, noise, dust, and other typical sawmill conditions.

• Ability to respond to equipment breakdowns and urgent maintenance requirements.
